SIMPLY THE BEST BACK FOR NRL 2009 KICK OFF - 10 March 2009
Ronni Rae Rivers is set to perform her latest single, a cover of the Tina Turner classic Simply the Best, at half time of the Cronulla Sharks vs Penrith Panthers game being held at Toyota Stadium this Saturday night 14th March from 7:30pm.
Recorded as a tribute to the firefighters who battled the devastating Victorian Bushfires, Rivers version will be available from iTunes, with all profits raised going to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
Rivers will perform the song live for the very first time, to a packed out Toyota Stadium, after recording the song at the Sydney Opera House last week.
Ronni Rae Rivers says, “I am so excited about playing at the Sharks game on Saturday and being that all the money raised goes to such a good cause I hope that this version of the song is just as popular as the original.
“I am so thankful to everyone involved with this project including the other musicians, the writers and the Sydney Opera House who all donated their time and expertise to make this single a reality.
“We have gone with a more rock feel for this version that I hope will motivate the boys on Saturday night and see them come out victorious against the Panthers!” Rivers concluded.
Rivers was joined by Shania Twain band member, Randall Waller, who arranged the new version, while the songs writers Mike Chapman and Holly Knight have kindly waived their royalty entitlements for the tribute version.
Ronni Rae will meet a selection of Sharks players at 11am on Tuesday 10th March to get up close and personal with the team before wowing the crowds at half time on Saturday night.
